About Autism Hangout FEATURE PROGRAMS:
FEATURE PROGRAMS are a series of ongoing, continually updated, autism topics (i.e. "Key Learnings," "Beyond the Headlines", "Moving Out" or Featured Guests).
They are prepared by Autism Hangout Staff Reporters. We’ll keep on top of trends in the news as well as Autism Hangout’s Discussion Forums so you can quickly find the latest, current thinking on the topics and challenges that we face daily.
All Feature Programs have links to threads in the Discussion Forum (if you'd care to share your experience or insights with others).

This is the Mission Statement found at the "Off We Go!" website. "Off We Go!" books (and now apps) prepare children for everyday experiences and improve language and social skills. They also encourage kids to take part in activities that they might otherwise find overwhelming.

Thanks to Apple, the iPad, iPhone and iTouch devices have become the primary means by which our special kids can tap into the incredible world of helpful apps. But for those of you working with PCs, today's guest has an option.
Martijn van der Kooij has developed Picto Selector, a robust picto app with over 18,000 images that can be used in English, Spanish, French and Dutch. And where it was initially developed FOR the PC, it is also now available to those with Apple products. Autism Hangout, please welcome today's guest, Martijn van der Kooij.

Lisa is the mother of Grace, a child on the spectrum dealing with communications issues. Lisa developed a real-life, 3D solution for Grace's inability to speak but she realized, as an iPhone app, the program could not only better assist Grace, but enable other users to communicate. So she sought out help in developing this remarkable program.

Kyle Tomson is nothing short of amazing. He's got a day job... and a child on the spectrum. In his spare hours, he has developed "Sentence Builder, Question Builder" and "Story Builder" to aid her learning. The Apps have worked so well, Kyle put them in iTunes/the Apple Store. Today, parents worldwide are sharing the benefits of Kyle's Apps. But he didn't stop there.
In this interview, Kyle talks about his latest App for Autism, Language Builder. Language Builder functions as the rest of the Builder series and in this case, helps kids develop expressive language and construct sentences for meaningful conversation. Thanks, Kyle!
