About Autism Hangout FEATURE PROGRAMS:
FEATURE PROGRAMS are a series of ongoing, continually updated, autism topics (i.e. "Key Learnings," "Beyond the Headlines", "Moving Out" or Featured Guests).
They are prepared by Autism Hangout Staff Reporters. We’ll keep on top of trends in the news as well as Autism Hangout’s Discussion Forums so you can quickly find the latest, current thinking on the topics and challenges that we face daily.
All Feature Programs have links to threads in the Discussion Forum (if you'd care to share your experience or insights with others).

The last time we spoke with today’s talented guest, he’d just finished up his social skills CD project, Lime Green Limousine. Well fortunately for our special kids, that project launched him into an even more effective medium for social skills teaching. Back today to tell us about the “Social Express”, AH please welcome today’s guest, Marc Zimmerman.

One of the hallmarks of Aspergers is difficulty with social skills. The good news is, these skills can be learned and thanks to Apple's roster of mobile products, assistance is just a few keystrokes away.
Today's guest has assembled an app that can be used "in the moment of need." It's based on a 5 "R's" framework: Relating, Relaxing, Regulating, Reasoning, Recognizing. This incredibly helpful program is the brainchild of Dr. Mark Bowers. And I'm delighted to have him here today.

A couple of weeks ago I started intently reporting on technology… specifically, the iPad/iPhone/iTouch family of Apple devices and “apps for autism.” If you follow the news, the iPad is all the rage among computer-philes for many reasons. But among those using computers, dealing daily with autism, they’re finding the iPad little short of amazing.
Based on the volume of positive response, I’m starting a new Autism hangout Feature Program Series called Apps for Autism. I’m going to focus on finding what’s new, what’s helpful and what’s hopeful.
I love it when you write me and tell me your interests. And I love it that you’re a part of Autism Hangout. Thanks again for watching.

Have a look at Sentence Builder, Question Builder and Story Builder... more incredibly helpful Apps for Autism.
Meet Kyle Tomson, father to a child on the spectrum and member of Moms with Apps. To help meet his daughter's communications needs, Kyle developed not one, but three amazing programs (and two more are on the way)! In this video, Kyle demonstrates his programs... all three popular with teachers/educators as well as caregivers.
