Okay--the big writing test is done, and it sounds like it went okay. But what really hacks me off is that interim report cards came home today, stating that social studies was basically eliminated for the first half of the quarter so students could prepare for the test! Oh how I hate teaching to the test!
So--coming up this week my high-functioning child will take the writing Standards of Learning (SOL) test here in Virginia. He and his fellow 5th graders have been preparing for this test all school year (even to the extent of having day-long drills of writing, editing, revising).
