Thomas the Tank Engine

By: irishprincess16 Monday, January 09, 2012 @2:13:49 PM

I absolutely love trains, especially Thomas the Tank Engine, and really old steam trains. However, unlike many other autistic people, for me it's not so much about memorizing the entire timetable, but rather the sensory part of being around trains. I love to go to model train shows to watch the trains go around and around on the tracks, and...

disabling label

By: Morpheus Sunday, January 08, 2012 @12:04:15 AM

Yesterday I was reviewing my diagnosis report for the first time since I received it 3 years ago. It was my 3rd diagnosis. The first 2 were fine but were considered not definitive enough by other professional to be considered valid. I think the other diagnosis were in variance to what people view in me as I look "normal" to others....

NIA

By: Morpheus Wednesday, January 04, 2012 @3:06:29 PM

I was thinking the other day. And frankly when am I not thinking. It dawned upon me that that individuals on the ASD are always guessing at best that we are living relvant lives. We might think we are relevant and we might believe we are relevant and we might pretend we are relevant in the lives of those around us but we never...

One hundred percent proof

By: Morpheus Friday, December 30, 2011 @11:45:40 AM

Here is another topic I have given plenty of thought to. This whole concept of proof is a very big deal to Neurotypicals but I do not think it is something we on the spectrum should be concerning ourselves about. Furthermore I actually think it is detrimental for us to be caught up with playing up to proving anything. Now I think that...

Christmas, Socialising and Sensory Overload

By: Richard Maguire Sunday, December 25, 2011 @3:03:44 PM

I do like Christmas. I am a Christian and it is a lovely celebration. Yet I find Christmas a time of stress and overload. I love my family and like their company but the Christmas thing causes me a lot of overload and a number of meltdowns over the years. Lots of family gathered downstairs in a house gets too much on so many sensory and processing...

To Feel Without Analysing

By: Richard Maguire Monday, December 19, 2011 @4:33:47 AM

Just for one I would like to approach something like a non autistic person. I just want to instantly like something and feel something about it and not have to work through all manner of technicalities and work out what I feel about is some time in the future when the moment has passed.

An Autistic Way to See Christmas

By: Richard Maguire Sunday, December 18, 2011 @3:04:02 PM

An autistic attitude to Christmas; I do enjoy carol services and the nativity scene seen here created by children from Aylesbury Methodist Church. Being autistic and with a degree in theology I know that the real circumstances of Jesus' birth was a lot different to the nativity story told and enacted at this Christmas. To enjoy and...
