My son did not seem to have autism until age 5. The doctor I was going to felt that the Hep B vaccination was unnecessary so my son had never had the Hep B vaccination. When my son was needing his kindergarten shots I did not have insurance so the doctor sent me to Ramsey County for much cheaper costing shots to help save me some...

The causes of Autism are not well understood. My son had issues even before he was born, so I know that whatever caused his, it was not immunizations.
I still think that immunizations may be the cause of some cases. Not because of the Thimerosol that is in them, but because of the inflammatory response/ immune response the...

What happens when my child is upset, and I say, "It's OK, You're OK?" She knows two things:
1) My mom says I am OK, but I AM NOT OK.
2) I am NOT OK, and my mom thinks I am OK, so she's not going to do anything to help me.
This is what happens at school, at camp, in the store, at Grandma's, anywhere that things are not OK...

Today, was rather quiet for me in the morning, staying home, while Nate took Dad up to Derry, to have his "other" eye operated on. Now both operations are done, to "improve" his vision, as a 76 year-old severe Insulin-dependent Diabetic.
I am doing ok. This afternoon, after running errands for Nate & Dad, after they...

Have just been relaxing here, sitting just outside the outside door from the driveway, to the downstairs Den room. Nate had the morning to go out in Dad's car, to do errands, ect., while I did kitchen cleanup chores myself, while Dad had his morning nap. After Nate returned home, I went ouit in my truck, 1st over to the town public library, to use...

When you work to help your child with autism understand a concept, you may find that no matter how many times you try to "say it and show it", the concept just does not get through. It's all a difference in perspective - a person's point of view. The reason it is not getting through is that my perspective is that of a...

Today, I took an all-day outing in my ute, up to Rochester, NH, to the Rochester Fair. I had my new loftstrand crutches stashed behind the seats in my cab, & when I got there, I spent the entire day, "getting used to them", & really for the very 1st time, I really was able to "stand & walk for very long...

For much of today, I have really not had any "cognitive will to speak". I am simply withdrawn into myself. This afternoon, I have tried an experiment. I drove over to a medical supply store in Nashua, NH 18 miles west of Salem where I live, & for the 1st time, purchased a pair of forearm crutches for myself. With the crutches, as a...

We had our second meeting. There were three kids I expected, one of whom was not at our last meeting. Then, wonderful surprise, in came a 19 year old college student who told me later that she had gotten a forwarded email about the group. She had to take a bus over from campus after class. I was excited that someone wanted...

Just a lot of things on my mind lately. This afternoon, I spent time @ the Derry, NH CATV studio, & created another TV show, from the footage I shot last Friday evening of t he Derry, NH Town Talent Show.
Sunday afternoon, I spent time with PO from Revere, MA, who is a 37 year-old Asperger's Adult. We took a hike together along Crane's Beach...
