One thing is clear to me about those that come in touch with individuals on the ASD; that is we have our own inimical way of emotionally touching those around us. This is significant because there is still way too many who are still questioning how important and valuable our lives are.

However i have noticed that we have a way of affecting people deeply and leaving their lives affected differently than they have bargained for nor expected.

Now don't ask me how we go about doing this, but I have noticed for a very long time now that we do this routinely and apparantly surprisingly. I am proud to be in a fraternity that has a natural proclivity and capability to affect the humanity of all we meet.

personally touch people in ways that sometimes disturb how they wish to look at relationships. But is it bad to make people question how relationships are supposed to go? I do not think so. We are supposed to touch people in ways that over time make them more human. We on the ASD accomplish this.

I think this is a laudable goal and I would hope others will adopt this as their goal and leave those they touch more human.

Being touched by anyone involves compassion. ANYTHING that evokes and evolves compassion is good for the human race.

This is so true....I see myself shifting and changing as I progress with my understanding of my Aspie teen. I am more accepting of others differences and am learning new ways of compassionately interpreting behaviours. However, it is such a challenge, trying to approach and converse with my Aspie girl or even discussing something with my husband with daughter present so as not to elicite an angry barrage of verbal abuse to things that would just be "normal" conversation and/or debate to others.
