Early Mind Matters

Thursday, May 14, 2009 @3:21:47 PM

Our company, Neuropath Learning, has created an educational program for children with autism and other special needs called “Early Mind Matters” that I wanted to tell you about. It is both an early childhood assessment tool and an intervention. We are based in Bellevue, Washington and would like to be included on your website as a local and national resource. We license our programs to schools, parents and therapists.

Early Mind Matters features include:

1.       Web-based, interactive educational program with cognitive learning activities.

2.       Suitable for preschool and elementary school children for in school and at home use

3.       Collects performance data in real time and allows for tracking student progress.

4.       Provides an assessment tool to identify cognitive deficiencies in 47 different cognitive skills

5.       Early intervention: Provides cognitive training to correct learning disabilities.

6.       Uses real-world images and videos in cognitive skill building activities.

7.       Pairs visual stimuli with verbal stimuli and written language.

8.       Pays special emphasis on the areas of social cognition.

9.       Offers new and salient stimuli in each activity and immediate feedback

10.    Programs are customizable to fit individual student’s needs once deficiencies are identified.

The program is scientifically developed based on several years of documented research on how the brain is attracted to and retains new and useful information. The program is geared toward visual right brain creative learning. Children can progress from one level to the next so they are continuously challenged to learn something new. Moreover, parents and teachers are surprised to learn how much their children already knew or were capable of that was not readily apparent.

Here are some of the exciting results we have been able to achieve for children with autism:

  • Improvements in expressive and receptive language, reading, spelling, punctuation.
  • Better focus, memory, patience (waiting) and calmness.
  • No more abnormal behaviors or language
  • No more conduct or behavior problems
  • Improved listening ability and ability to ask questions (why, where, who, what, how..).
  • Ability to integrate and interact socially with his peers, with less conflict.
  • Understand emotions, non-verbal communication, right vs. wrong, share feeling, show empathy,
  • Initiate play and engage in pretend play
  • Able to come off stimulant medication, eat, sleep and thrive
  • Increased confidence.

We are an evidence based program. We have testimonials from parents and teachers. Independent testing by speech therapists and observations of autism counselors also support our findings. Children who have mastered Early Mind Matters are able to move on to our preschool and elementary school programs which have been demonstrated to increase state test scores consistently.

Please visit our website www.neuropathlearning.com to find out more about our programs and register for the free trials. Ideally, children should be allowed to interact with the program, without assistance, for 30 minutes 3-5 times a week. The first couple of weeks may require some extra patience on part of the caregiver. If you stick with it you will see some pretty dramatic, rapid and long-lasting gains.

Our programs can be integrated into ABA and speech therapy programs. Please contact me if you are interested.

Thanks!

This is very exciting, Sutapa. If you're interested, when I get back late next week, let's talk about this over SKYPE and I'll record it for the rest of Autism Hangout. Let me know what your schedule looks like the first week in June.

Hey Sutapa,

I am excited with what you shared with us here. It looks like a real advancement to the tools we have in helping our youth to cope with their LD.
I plan to share this with my 14 year old Aspie tomorrow.
