A new day

Tuesday, November 01, 2011 @3:00:01 PM

every morning my boy gets up early much earlier than the rest of the family I have now just started him on Melontonin think thats how its spelt, well he is sleeping much longer so I think it is helping 7am is a good time for the family to get up not 4.30am or 5am lol .well my son had a bit of resistance wearing his school uniform and started to have a tantrum Im trying to determine what is Autism and what is his personality but to be honest I dont know if I can make the distingtion between the two I just stood there watching him throw his wobbly and thought how can I reach him, he noticed me watching him and then he was ready to communicate with me with out any verbal disputes. I servived that one and so did he.

Being there for him is a wonderful gift at this stage. It's also the best thing you can do. He knows. Deep down inside, he knows.

There are great benefits for the use of melatonin especially when our kids don't seem to produce enough of it themselves regarding regular sleeping pattern issues.

From my own family's experience allowing that non reaction yet supportive role from yourself and extra processing time for him works wonders!!Words are sometimes over-rated....it's the correct positive (re)actions that speak volumes. :)

I used to get up much earlier than everyone in my family except my dad who was gone to work already. I would just colour in my colouring books for a while and then go back to bed until everyone else got up. Later I would get up at 3 or 4, read for a couple hours, and then go back to bed. We hadn't heard of melatonin then so I don't know if it would have helped me sleep. Now my mom uses it with my 3 youngest siblings and it is great for helping them get to sleep and stay asleep.
