Where the fun is at.

Wednesday, May 09, 2012 @9:59:53 AM

I find it interesting that when I am most worked up and excited it seems to revolve around an idea and concept. Either I am reading or hearing about something exciting and inspiring and I get very happy and fulfilled or I am writing about something that I thought up and this to me feels very complete and satisfying.

Yet when I hear Neurotypicals talk it is people/intimacy and relationships that bring them this same sense of satisfaction. So I guess that what they say is true that we are fulfilled by ideas. Because when I am around people it almost always ends up with me feeling defensive or imcomplete. People usually depletes my sense of self and ideas make me feel much more fulfilled and complete.

Most of you would think not only is this wierd but tantamount to defining me as disordered. I don't think so It makes me feel good. People including my wife fulfills my need for social contact, but my desire for social contact is quite small and truly it is over rated. I know I am bias as an Aspie to say that it is over rated but it is.

Who wants to feel depleted? Not me, this is why relationships are good in small portions. Afterabout 20-30 minutes of it I am good. Thats all I need. The idea of cuddly is very uncomfortable to me. I want to jump up or do somehting. I can honestly say it does nothing for me. Maybe I can cuddle on a long road trip where room is cramped and then it is maybe necessary, otherwise it would not be me to volunteer for it.

What I volunteer is to run down to the planetarium and library.

That is where the fun is at........ LETS GO !

Aspies and NTs can equally share the excitement of an inspiration. Some of my fondest memories of work in an advertising agency had to do with creative ideas.

Part of the reason I admire the Aspie's ability to focus is their logical minds are NOT encumbered by distracting social etiquette. Wow!
