Hi Dr Tony.
I'm curious to know if boys with a mother with Aspergers can tend to show signs and characteristics that are more in keeping with those that a girl might show. Less overt signs, more camouflage/chameleon type behaviour.

We've not yet had my sons assessed but are working towards doing so. What we're seeing in my 8 yr old is a very social child who is a model child at school, but who melts down the moment we walk in the door at home. It's as though he can finally stop working so hard at being normal all day - something that I did my whole life without really being aware that I was.

He also does "boy" things. He's monologing, has a particular interest that is bordering on obsessional, and doesn't apear to be aware of the social expectations that an 8 yr old would be normally be expected to be aware of.

I'm guess I'm curious to know how far the genetic link goes. Does it ever cross those gender boundaries?

Thanks for your time, and for all that you do. This forum is amazing!
